Move to Halifax County
John Watkins, Sr. sold all his Possessions in the County of King and Queen. He appointed his son the lawyer, George Watkins of Halifax County, to complete the transaction. John Watkins made his mark "J" at the bottom of the document. This was recorded in 1760. In the same year, John Watkins, along with Richard and Pauline Anderson, obtained a Land Grant for 6200 acres in Halifax County. This tract of land was located at the south side of the Banister River and on both sides of Sandy Creek. The land was divided up amongst the three. Therefore, John Watkins was living in Halifax County when his will was written in April 1762. John Watkins died in Halifax County, VA in 1763.
