This is written by my grandmother about 5 years ago when I was a 2 year old toddler. I'm not a baby anymore. Today, most all of my therapy is done at school. I need help eating and other tasks that most people take for granted. Therapy teaches me to do more for myself so I don't have to rely on others as much. If you want to read what I have to say and what I am doing today, read My blog. When I was a 2 year old child I have to go weekly to therapists. My doctor visits are frequent too. I like my therapist. She is so much fun! We play a lot. I learned to roll over by laying on my side. The therapist placed a toy I wanted just out of my reach, so if I wanted the toy bad enough I would reach for it and consequently turn over. I started talking, I can say mama now clearly. I roll over pretty good now. I can get around this way, but it takes forever to get anywhere. I get pretty frustrated because I can't go where I want to so I fuss a lot. I will soon get braces for my legs! the Therapist told Mom not to let me stand up (Mom holds me up) because I push up with my toes. My toes are curling because the muscles are tightening up and my legs are crossing more. This is one of the symptoms of Cerebral Palsy. The therapist told Mom that letting me stand could cause me not to ever walk. I like to stand up while Mom holds me this is so exciting for me. I'll miss this. But the good news is, I will soon get braces to support my weak ankles and when I do Mom can start holding me up again and letting me stand! The therapist says after I get my braces I might be able to stand on my own. I've been told that the braces aren't too uncomfortable because the braces are now made of soft pliable material and conform more to the leg shape. I'll just have to see about that. Everyone says I am very sweet. That must be because I smile a lot. I also play shy when I meet someone new. I am now close to two and half years old. Time really flies when your as busy as I am. I really try hard to learn. I am really getting fussy so I have to take my nap now. More Recently .... Cerebral Palsy treatment with Botox I now go several times a year to get Botox injections in my legs. These shots are intended to make my leg muscles less spastic. My legs don't cross anymore. The therapists say it is helping me walk. I use a walker everyday. It takes me awhile but I can walk using the walker. The shots hurt so bad that the doctor put me a sleep. The shots also leave terrible bruises on my legs at the site of injection.
