Asheville NC Restaurants

Asheville has about 250 plus restaurants in the area. Due to the fact that restaurants tend to go out of business fairly quickly, it would be impractical as well as impossible to list these restaurants and keep this listing up to date. However, I can and will list name brand chain restaurants as well as a few local mom and pops that have stayed in the area for over 20 years.

The advantage of eating at name brand chain restaurants is that you can expect and receive a fairly good meal at an affordable price. You are most likely familiar with the food and the cost so you know what to order. You can look up menus online and get an idea of what you want to order in advance. this will make it easier on your waistline and your pocketbook.

Here is a run down on Asheville restaurants with a brief summary of what to expect.

Chain restaurants: Longhorn, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Carabbas, J&S Cafeteria, Frankie Bones, TGIF Fridays

Fast Food: McDonalds, Hardees, Sonic, KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, Moe's Southwest, 5 guys and a burger

Road House - Biltmore - food is average, steaks are their specialty, busy and very noisy

Grove Park Inn buffet is disappointing - too expensive for what you get, food is bland and dried out, stick to the menu.

Little Pigs BBQ has been in the area for over 30 years. BBQ is always exceptional, fast food atmosphere.

Downtown Restaurants that have good reputations:

Mellow Mushroom

Crepe restaurant downtown (don't know the name)- Crepes are used to wrap veggies and meats in, Crepes are cooked in front of you and made to order. Exceptional meal.

Early Girl was featured on Rachael Ray Food Network

Japanese Restaurants that are exceptional:

Asaka - Biltmore - best Shrimp dinner - fast food atmosphere, use to be a Burger King - the lay out of the restaurant is unchanged.

Ichiban - Biltmore - good hibachi chicken, shrimp or veggies.

Popular Mexican restaurant is Papas and Beer on Tunnel Road. Good Food.  Very Busy.

Tip of the Day in ordering a good meal - avoid the buffet. Buffets are always disappointing. Sure you can eat all you want but do you really want to. The food is usually dried out as its been sitting there too long. It usually unsanitary as lots of people have stuck their nasty hands in the food. Even at that, you tend to eat way more than you need which packs on the pounds. It way better to order from the menu as you will get way more than you. can eat anyway

for some great restaurants in Asheville with hours of operation, pictures, gift certificates, online reservations (available through a few restaurant listings) and more information see: Restaurant.com enter the zip code 28803.

Blog - I don't like to cook much so we eat out quite a lot. I started a blog which has my opinions on some local restaurants.
