Link Building Guide - Facts

Building links for your website is never an easy job. The biggest obstacle you have is other webmasters who do not use ethical practices. They will outright lie to you to get you to link to them. The goal is to get one way links which most webmasters tend to think will earn them more brownie points with the search engines. This is debatable. My argument to this is what good does it do anyone if each party removes the other's link. Total waste of time.

When you ask for a link, the majority of the time you will never get a response. You put a link up and wait and wait and wait. So ...

Always keep track of your link exchanges, many webmasters are deceitful. I have had people ask for a link exchange and never reciprocated. Needless to say, I removed their links pronto. If you dont receive an acceptance or your link does not go up on the other site within a day or two, remove the other website's link from your site.

Before accepting a link exchange, check the websites robot.txt page and see if their link exchange page is spider friendly. Check the source code of the link page for a nofollow meta tag and a rel="nofollow" attribute in the links. These indicate the page is not spider friendly. Make sure the link directory is accessible, having at least one link from either the site map or the home page.  Check the links on the link directory for javascript or redirects. If the links are not your natural link, it does you no good.   Recheck links regularly, a decent website can change to a porn site overnight. Always check back, as people recruit links then either drop them or hide them. I ran across one website that had acquired a page rank of 6 with hundreds of links. I added mine because it was automated and easy. Gave them a link on several pages in exchange for the same. I check back a few months later (way too long) and their link page was not found anywhere. They still had a pr of 6 and 100 s of websites still linked to them. So this site was deceitful and most of the websites in their back links will never remove their links because they never check their reciprocal links. An quick and easy way to check link is to use link building software.

The important thing about link exchanges is it can bring you a steady flow of traffic regardless of your position in the search engines. Just one of my reciprocal links generate over 400 targeted visitors a month. To do link exchanges right, you must exchange links with websites that are similar to yours in content so they will compliment one another. Dont link to sites that link to anything and everything because these are link farms and will drag you down.

If you want to exchange links with this site, follow the links below: I only exchange with travel related sites. Links are checked regularly to see if the site is still linking back Link Exchange.

Link Building Software

After several years of not checking my links, I decided to randomly do a check. I have over 20 sites so the job was next to impossible to do by hand so I just let the job go. I check a few sites I had given a link to for well over a year and found they werenot linking back. So, I did a search and found linkassistant. I read up on it but I was not convinced at that moment that it was the best link checking tool. Then, I got a request from someone who was actively using linkassistant. I asked them in the process of exchanging links what he thought about the software. He told me it saved him time and he could check the link exchanges for reciprocation with ease. He highly recommended it. So, still not convinced, I decided to download the free version. I was able to check the links for reciprocation quickly and effortlessly. I can also use it on as many sites as I need to. These are the main reasons I was looking for link exchange software. The problem with the free version is you cannot save your projects. So, I bought the program.  I have found that LinkAssistant Link Building Software is a major work saver. When I first used it, I found over 75% of my link exchanges not reciprocating. I was angry with myself because I had stupidly given those sites links for well over a year without any benefit to my sites. On some pages where I had their links, after removing the links, the page jumped up in the serps and gained pr. So, those non-reciprocating links had damaged those pages.

Some of the advantages of using linkassistant:

  • Linkassistant will find and fill in link exchange forms automatically
  • you can email requests for link exchanges to other webmasters and search for sites that actively exchange links
  • You can find the pr of a site, email, description, title
  • It will tell you the date you added the link and whether the webmaster has reciprocated or not.
  • It checks the links for reciprocation and you can automate this process for whatever date you want.
  • You can make link pages look like your site in a matter of seconds and upload those pages in seconds too.
  • When you get a request for a link exchange, the program will add the website's info with one click
  • It will check the link pages of websites you are linking to or thinking about linking to for no-follow attributes and no-index meta tags
  • You can ftp your link pages in seconds

You'll just have to try the link assistant to see how it will benefit you. I have used it for 3 months and I can't help raving about it. Because I am tired of the link exchange game epecially when I was getting burned by it. Now, I can stay a top of it and keep other webmasters honest or at least eliminate those that aren't.
