One of the most famous names in golf for North Carolina is The Cliffs. The Cliffs are golf communities’ set all over the state. The Cliffs at Walnut Cove is minutes from downtown Asheville, and features The Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course, which opened in April of 2005. The front nine holes play over rolling farmland fields and soft ridges, while the back nine holes play in a more wooded area with mountain streams bordering the Pisgah National Forest. The Cliffs’ newest addition, The Cliffs at High Carolina, will soon be opening their golf course. This will be the first American golf course to be designed by Tiger Woods Design, with the location chosen for its 50-mile views of the surrounding area. Uniquely designed to be a walking course at an elevation of 4,000 feet, this most recent Asheville development is sure to make history.
