This week I had to go get new AFO’s (leg braces). Every year I have to get new ones cause I grow. We had to go to Hickory NC to get them so I got out of school. Anyway, I got a pair of shoes with the braces cause its so difficult to find shoes that fit with the AFOs. They also came with 6 pairs of socks. I have to wear long socks that come up to my knees. I have to wait on my shoes cause they only had red and black and I wanted pink. My new braces are very pretty. They look like a rainbow. My other ones were getting tight and very uncomfortable.

I started back to school last week. I like school but not the homework. We went back to Winston Salem a few weeks ago to get my casts off. They weren’t on that long. My doctor in Winston Salem told Mom that the afo’s (leg braces) that I have, aren’t right for me, so I have to go to Hickory to get a new set soon. Mom, Grandma and I met with my social workers today after school just to go over my progress. I don’t have to go back to Winston Salem till January. So, I am happy about that.

last week on friday, I went to Winston-Salem, as I wrote in another post, anyway I had botox injections, 60 shots to be exact. The area is still bruised and my legs are sore. The casts are heavy on my feet and make it awkward and difficult for others to pick me up and put me in my wheelchair or the car, etc. Hopefully they come off before school starts. Yesterday, was my last day of summer school. It wasn’t much, just one day every other week. but I did get some therapy those days.

Last week, I went to Winston Salem again twice. The first time, on Tuesday, was for an evaluation of my condition. I was told I would have to come back Friday for botox injections and to put casts on my ankles and feet. The bones in my ankles and feet are weakening and they are getting brittle due to the muscles pulling against them. My feet are deformed - they are rounded and look like they are swollen. The doctor says this is because I dont use them. I got 60 botox injections in the same area of my upper thigh. I am very bruised there. I was put to sleep while the doctor injected the botox in my legs. I am very sore. The casts on my feet and ankles is blue, my favorite color. They match much of my clothing. Hopefully I can get the casts off before school. They are uncomfortable.

I was told yesterday that Wedsnesday a new caseworker will be coming for an interview. My mom and grandmother have to approve. This lady will be replacing the other lady who comes everyday to help out. I have goals to make. This issue will be discussed too. New goals will be set. The caseworker works with me to improve my dexterity and other things too. I’ve been walking a bit in the walker. I do things with my hands like color, draw, write, etc. I mix things up in a bowl too. This helps my hands work better. I went to summer school for one day last week for therapy. I will go back soon.
