Ideas for Leftovers Leftover ham is a great addition to any recipe. Its cheap too cause your stretching your food dollars. Don't never throw food out ... You can always find something to do with it. There are lots of things you can add ham to. You can make a stir fry with rice that is fantastic. You can add the leftover ham to potato dishes, macaroni and cheese, pot pies, omelets, egg dishes, rice dishes, cheese dishes .... Fry it up with onions and garlic then put it in a tortilla with some scrambled eggs. Use your imagination. If you don't have any leftovers, then you can use a few slices of sandwich ham from the deli or even a small slab of ham for some of the recipes here. Leftover Ham Hash Recipe This is a delicious recipe from my mother's recipe collection. She would make this dish to finish off the ham leftover from a previous meal. Use enough ham to make the dish about 3/4ths meat to potato. You have to judge the proportions for yourself but the finished dish should be more pink from the ham than white from the potatoes. You can use as much or as little ham as you like. This is one of my favorite meals. Appliance needed: Meat grinder Ingredients
To Prepare Recipe Run ham and potatoes through a meat grinder. Heat frying pan coated with oil or cooking spray. Saute onions till translucent. Add grinded ham and potatoes. Cook till heated through or brown. Serve with catsup.
heat oven to 350 degrees Ingredients
Put potatoes in 8x8x2 inch baking dish. Melt 3 tablespoons butter in skillet. Remove 1 tablespoon of melted butter and toss with bread crumbs, paprika and thyme. Set aside. To remaining melted butter, add mustard, flour, salt, pepper. Add slowly 1 cup milk and 1 cup water till thickened. Stir in ham and cheese. Continue cooking till cheese melts. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top. Cover with aluminum foil and put in oven for about 1 hour. serves 6-8 people.
This dish is very versatile. You can use beef, chicken or anything you have leftover. You can use any amount of any of the ingredients you want. Its very good. This is a Thai recipe.
Spray frying pan with Pam cooking spray. Add about 2 Tablespoons of oil. (The reason you use Pam too is that the rice will absorb the oil and you will add a whole lot of oil which adds calories to keep this from sticking). Add onion and garlic. Saute until onions are transluscent. Add Ham. Add veggies. Brown. Add rice. Stir till heated. Crack egg and put yolk and whites on top of rice. Cover. Cook till egg is done. Take fork and break up egg to distribute it in the rice. Add Worchester sauce and soy sauce to taste. Season with salt and pepper.
This recipe is so simple my Uncle thought it up. He used to fix it for breakfast when we come to visit. Its quick to make too.
Heat butter and margarine in pan on medium heat till it melts. add onions. saute till onions are clear. do not allow butter to burn. Meanwhile scramble eggs in bowl. Add ham to egg mixture. Pour in heated pan. cook till eggs are done. This is a good idea for any occasion or breakfast. Ingredients
