Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe

Recipe Ingredients

  • pound butter or margarine
  • cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 tablespoons Cocoa
  • 5 eggs
  • 1-cup milk
  • 1-teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups flour

To Prepare Recipe: Sift dry Recipe Ingredient together. Set aside. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add milk and Fold into sifted dry Recipe Ingredients. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes in a 300-degree oven.

Cold Oven Black Walnut Pound Cake Recipe

Black Walnut pound cake is a treat. If you don't like black walnuts, you can substitute regular walnuts or leave them out. Experiment and add different nuts, candies or coconut. I substitute Vanilla flavoring for the black walnut flavoring and use regular walnuts for the black walnuts. It smells delicious while its cooking. Oven temperature is 325 degrees but do not preheat

This pound cake is delicious with a hot cup of coffee or tea. It makes a good breakfast cake with a glass of milk. Try and see for your self. Remember not to pre-heat your oven. It is also important to add each egg one at a time and beat till creamy. This cake takes a bit to do but it makes a nice cake to give as a gift on the holidays. It freezes well too.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup shortening
  • 2- Cup sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 Cups plain flour
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 1 Teaspoon baking powder
  • teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons black walnut flavoring
  • 1 Package black walnuts

To Prepare Recipe: Cream shortening, sugar and add eggs one at a time thoroughly blending after each additional egg. Cream 10 minutes at high speed. Add 1-cup milk and dry Recipe Ingredients. Add flavoring and nuts. Bake in tube pan 1 hour and 25 minutes at 325. Do not pre-heat. Start baking in a cold oven. Cover when removed from oven.
