If you have never seen the Lord of the Ring movies, you need to start out with the first movie, Fellowship of the Ring to understand it and to follow the entire story. I watch the last Lord of the Ring movie, Return of the King without viewing the previous Lord of the Ring movies and I was lost however, it was a good movie although I had a hard time understanding things because events cause events.

In order to prevent the ring's erstwhile owner, the dark lord Sauron, from reclaiming the ring and taking over Middle-earth, a motley band of comrades set out to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom, where it was forged. Jackson's grandiose production represents the first of three films that he wrote and directed, derived from Tolkien's beloved novels. After masterfully setting up the world created by J.R.R. Although the director takes a few more liberties in adapting the second installment, he skillfully cuts from one scenario to the next, creating a tightly woven tapestry with the various storylines. Joining the impressive cast this time around are Miranda Otto as Éowyn; Bernard Hill as her father, King Théoden; Brad Dourif as the aptly named Grima Wormtongue; Karl Urban as Éomer; David Wenham as Faramir; and Serkis under the remarkable CGI facade of Gollum.
