saving money at the grocery store this week

Posted in shopping, food, saving money at 5:42 pm by admin

This week, I shopped for groceries at Harris Teeter. Today is June 20th for fyi. Before I went to the store, I checked out the weekly specials online and compared it to the coupons available. I didn’t see a match. However, there were truly some great deals at the grocery store. I was able to buy 2 weeks worth of meat plus weekly stables like bread, milk and a few vegetables for $50.00. I am feeding a family of four. Shrimp was 2.77 a pound for 2 pounds, a 12.00 savings. This makes 2 meals. Chicken was $1.99 lb.  I bought 2 packs for about $6.00. Cube steak was buy one get one free. Although this was a fantastic deal, I had to pass cause I still had some left in my freezer from the last sale and my family is getting tired of it. London Broil was buy one get one free and a 1.99 a pound. Again a good deal but I still had some in the freezer. I found some specials on hamburger meat that were marked down cause the date was close to expiration. Anyway, I was happy with my savings this week and this month.

saving money on groceries in Asheville 2

Posted in shopping, saving money at 2:10 pm by admin

I just came back from Harris Teeter grocery store in Asheville NC. I checked the sales before I went. Anyway, today is May 15th so you wont get the sales wrong for the week. The london broil roast and cube steak is buy one get one free. The cube steak is so tender you can cut it with a fork. This is a good deal. I had already stocked up from the last sale so I did not buy this week. Although I was tempted. I had to keep saying to myself its not a deal if you don’t need it.

saving money on groceries in Asheville

I never buy anything unless its on sale or I have a coupon for the item. Before I use that coupon, I check the price of the item after the coupon against other brands. Sometimes the price of the item with the coupon is higher. Anyways, I always check the weekly specials in Asheville area grocery stores online before I go shopping. I compare the sale items to the coupons I have on hand and try to match the sales with the coupons. Its not always possible. This week (April 26) Harris Teeter had the best sales. Cubed steak, london broil roasts, pork tenderloin and boneless chicken breasts were buy 1 get 1 free, An extraordinary deal. So, I stocked my freezer. I have enough meat for 5 weeks of meals. Raisin Bran cereal was buy one get one free. I had a coupon for 3.00 off if I bought 3. That made the cost of the cereal 55 cents a box. If I dont eat all three boxes, I still saved. This week, I saved over $100.00 on my total grocery bill. Since I wont have to go back to the grocery store for a month except for maybe bread and milk, I saved on my total monthly grocery bill.

Shopping Asheville Mall

Posted in shopping at 11:36 pm by admin

We went shopping at the Asheville mall today. It wasn’t too bad considering it’s 17 days to Christmas and a Saturday. You could find a parking space without to much ado. The traffic getting there was a bit heavy. Leaving the Mall was terrible. We waited a good thirty minutes to get to the main road. We then went to Shoe Carnival and hunted shoes. I like the bargains here. Buy one pair get the other for half price. But, finding a shoe I like that in my size is a real chore. After this, we went across the street to Lowes, I had a coupon for $10.00 off any $25.00 purchase. I had no idea what to buy, I just wanted the deal. So, my daughter reminded me, it wasn’t a deal if I didn’t need anything so, we left and went to Super Wal-mart to finish my Christmas shopping for my grandchildren. It was terrible here. Wall to wall people, blocking you at every turn. Anyway, I ended up getting one granddaughter a toy laptop, the other a gift card. I’m glad I’m through shopping cause the traffic near the malls and shopping centers are only going to get worse. If you are coming to town to shop at the mall and want a nearby hotel, see East Asheville hotels.

great deals on clothing

Posted in shopping at 5:36 pm by admin

My daughter went shopping at the Biltmore Square Mall yesterday. She found the shop Stevens & Barrys. It sells Sara Jessica Parker’s clothing line. You know the star from HBO’s Sex and the City. Anyway, Sara wanted a clothing line that was affordable to everyone. My daughter found girl’s jeans for $10.00 and children’s winter coats for the same. The store clerk said that everything in the store was less than $20.00. Good deal. Guess I’ll be shopping here when I drop a few more pounds. I’ve always consider this part of town West Asheville, but many consider it Enka since its so close to the old Enka plant.
