Golden Corral Hendersonville

Posted in restaurants at 5:34 pm by admin

We ate at the Golden Corral last week in Hendersonville. I didn’t really want to go cause I dont like buffet chain restaurants. My daughter and her friends talked me into it. I was pleasantly surprised. I am on the weight watcher diet so I immediately thought I didn’t have much choice for foods. I was wrong. I filled my plate with the vegetables: squash, grilled mushrooms, green beans, carrots, boiled cabbage. Added a very small serving of the pot roast, a small piece of fish and chicken. Wow. that was a lot of food. I couldn’t eat it all. But I stayed on my diet. didn’t go over my allotted points for the day and I still lost a pound last week. But the best thing is it tasted real good. They had lots of other foods and desserts for those of you who are not watching your weight. Since it was a buffet, you can go back as often as you like. My meal cost $10.99 with a cup of coffee. I would go back again and I would recommend it.

Tripps for lunch

Posted in restaurants at 8:25 pm by admin

We went to Tripps for lunch today. The restaurant is located in Downtown Asheville. My son and I go here at least once a month. I have the grilled chicken salad and he has the Caribbean chicken pasta plate. With drinks, the meal came to 28.00 without tip. We like eating here cause the service is good most of the time. Today, we went about 3:00 and the place was not busy at all. The hostess sat us in the bar area. We’ve never sat there before. We waited a good long time and nobody waited on us so I went up to the hostess and politely asked her to seat us elsewhere. She did and told the waiter to wait on us pronto. After that, we had no problem. We still would go back just we wont accept seating in the bar section again. The manager made several rounds to see if everyone eating in the restaurant was okay.

Jarrett House Restaurant

The Jarrett House Restaurant is located in Dillsboro. The town is near Bryson City which is in Western North Carolina. We went to the Jarrett house a while back. The restaurant is known for its country cooking. The food was good. We had to wait a while for seating. It was crowded which is also a good indication that the food is good.

Vegetarian Asheville

Posted in restaurants at 2:51 pm by admin

PETA named Asheville the best place to live and be a vegetarian. The Laughing Seed Cafe on Wall St. in downtown Asheville has been voted best in WNC by whom I do not know. This is what they advertise. But I do know, they have been there a long time and therefore have stood the test of time. So, they ought to be good. I am not a vegetarian so I am no judge on this one. It is a gourmet vegetarian bistro. It serves both lunch and dinner.

lunch at Tripps

Posted in restaurants at 5:36 pm by admin

We went to Tripps restaurant in downtown Asheville this afternoon. If you keep up with this blog, you will find that this is one of our favorite restaurants in town. The service is good. My son likes the food. I always order the grilled chicken and salad. I think the steaks are too expensive (over $15.00) and I dont like their pasta dishes too much either. The atmosphere is nice. Two people can eat for about $35.00.
