Fridays Restaurant Asheville

Posted in restaurants at 6:11 pm by admin

A few years back, I was a regular diner at TGI Fridays Restaurant here in the Asheville Biltmore area of town. I enjoyed the Jack Daniels Shrimp dinner. We stopped going there for awhile. Anyway, the other week we decided to go back. I was very disappointed. I didn’t get my usual meal cause I’am on a diet. I ordered the key lime shrimp dinner (12). It came with brocolli. I ordered a side salad and a cup of coffee. No appetizer. Total cost was over $16.00 add a dollar tip and the meal for just myself was a little over $17.00. I felt I paid entirely too much for the meal. It wasn’t even that good. My son paid about the same for his chicken dish, with a side salad and a coke. We won’t be going back.

cheeseburger in paradise shuts down

Posted in restaurants at 9:07 am by admin

Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant located on tunnel rd in Asheville, shut down yesterday. I will miss eating here. it was one of my favorite restaurants in Asheville. I enjoyed the citrus chicken and the brocolli. The prices of the meals were reasonable too. The same company owns Carrabass and Outback which are both located on Tunnel Rd.

applebees for drinks

Posted in restaurants at 9:47 pm by admin

My daughter and I went out for drinks tonight. This is the first time in my life I ever went out just for drinks. I generally think ordering a mixed drink out is a total waste of money due to the cost of one drink. I haven’t changed my mind. We went to Applebees on Tunnel Rd near the Asheville Mall. We didn’t order anything to eat cause neither one of us like their food but their drinks are good. Anyways, we both had eaten before we got there too. I had 2 mudslides and my daughter had 3 mochatinis. They were very good but then I got the check. It cost me $32.00 plus a $5.00 tip. Enough to have paid for 2 meals and then some.

Eating out Christmas Day

Posted in restaurants at 9:37 pm by admin

we went out to eat on Christmas Day. What a mistake. There wasn’t much open but a few chinese restaurants. I dont like Chinese food that much unless its a buffet. We went to the China Palace next to Harris Teeter in South Asheville and was extremely disappointed in both the food and the service. Because it was Christmas they were under staffed. At least I hope this was the reason. It took us well over an hour to get our meal. It cost 38.00 with tip. I had ordered a spicy dish which I didn’t know was spicy hot. I had no water even though I had asked for it a few times. I ended up drinking my son’s coke. I had coffee but I had to ask for refills several times and only got one refill at that. I know they were busy but I wont be going back.

Golden Corral Hendersonville

Posted in restaurants at 5:34 pm by admin

We ate at the Golden Corral last week in Hendersonville. I didn’t really want to go cause I dont like buffet chain restaurants. My daughter and her friends talked me into it. I was pleasantly surprised. I am on the weight watcher diet so I immediately thought I didn’t have much choice for foods. I was wrong. I filled my plate with the vegetables: squash, grilled mushrooms, green beans, carrots, boiled cabbage. Added a very small serving of the pot roast, a small piece of fish and chicken. Wow. that was a lot of food. I couldn’t eat it all. But I stayed on my diet. didn’t go over my allotted points for the day and I still lost a pound last week. But the best thing is it tasted real good. They had lots of other foods and desserts for those of you who are not watching your weight. Since it was a buffet, you can go back as often as you like. My meal cost $10.99 with a cup of coffee. I would go back again and I would recommend it.
