The Grove Park inn is a perfect place for a honeymoon. You can have your wedding and reception here too. Get married on a terrace overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains. There is a spa. All rooms have a refrigerator and a microwave.
The Grove Park in is near downtown Asheville. You can spend a day at the Grove Park Inn easy. They have several restaurants at the resort. There’s a really nice spa here too. We visit the resort at least once a year. My parents set the tradition. Everytime they came to visit us at Christmas time, my mom wanted to go to the Grove Park Inn for lunch. The food was okay. The place is decorated very nicely that time of year. We’d enjoy walking around the resort looking at the decorations.
The doubletree hotel is next to Fridays TGYF restaurant in Asheville Biltmore area. It used to be the Quality Inn many years back. My parents stayed here too. It was up to their standards and moderately priced. Biltmore Dairy Bar was in the same place that Fridays is today. This was when Biltmore Estates operated a dairy farm instead of the winery. The dairy has long since cease to exist. At the winery, you can taste wines. You can purchase Biltmore Wine here or at area grocery stores.
As I posted earlier, my parents used to come to visit and always stayed in an area Asheville hotel. They weren’t that particular so long as the place to stay was reasonably priced and up to standards. They often stayed at the Comfort Inn in the River Ridge Shopping center. This hotel has since changed to the Ramada Inn. The hotel met their expectations as they stayed there several nights in a row. There is a swimming pool. It is also close to many of Asheville’s attractions. There is a J&S cafeteria within walking distance that has good food and inexpensive.
In the Asheville Biltmore section of town, they are in the process of building a new hotel. The hotel is on an traffic island where an Exxon station stood last year. Its located directly across from the Biltmore Estate entrance, Starbucks and McDonalds. Considering the space of land where they are building, it appears the new hotel will be several stories high. This lot of land is surrounded by roads and use to only accommodate the gas station so they cant build a very wide building. The only solution is to build up rather than out.
