tax relief checks arrival dates

Posted in gripe corner at 6:01 pm by admin

The news said several weeks ago that the tax relief checks should be out by May 9. today’s the 10th and I haven’t recieve it yet. And if you are reading this, then my guess neither have you. So, I checked out the irs website and found the schedule. It appears that the schedule is set to the last 2 digits of your social security number. If you had your tax refund direct deposit then you should have your relief check by May 16th. If your tax refund was by check the earliest date is May 16th and the lastest date is July 11th. It just depends on your social security number. The lower your last two digits of your social security number, the sooner your check will be here. So, if you want to know exactly when your check will be here, go directly to the source and visit irs.gov.

tax relief checks

the tax relief checks are apart of George W. Bush’s Economic Relief Package. Its his last hurrah. The checks are suppose to be out on May 9. Anyway, the economic relief package is suppose to stimulate the economy. People are suppose to go out on a spending spree. Yet, we all know this isn’t going to happen. People will spend the check on basics or maybe pay on a credit card or stock up on food or maybe get caught up on their bills or put it in the bank for emergencies, etc. Because necessities have gone up in price, we, the consumer have less money to spend on extras. High Gas Prices is the reason for our economic woes. Its the trickle down effect. The high price of transportation is passed on to the consumer at the grocery store, clothing stores and so forth. It costs more to go to work. Utilities cost more. All the increases dip into our extra spending money that is if you ever had any or if you didn’t, like many of us, it puts us behind with our bills every month. This translates into less money for travel, vacations, movies, restaurants and so forth. Which also translates into lay offs, business closings, foreclosures and so forth. So, George W. Bush if you really want to do something about this economic mess, do something about the high gas prices first. The Oil companies are making a fortune at the expense of the American people.

asheville downtown parking

Posted in gripe corner, city at 7:17 am by admin

I heard on the news the other day about a Savannah Georgia couple who visited Asheville NC last year. This couple had their car towed. They had unknowingly parked in a private parking lot. The parking lot had a sign but the words warning of cars being towed were not noticed by the couple. The news said the lettering on the sign was not the right height. Being out of town made this very inconvenient for the couple. If you are coming to Asheville, you should double check before parking anywhere. Its best if you use a public parking spot. You can tell by the parking meter you will have to deposit coins into. Or park your car in a parking garage and pay the few dollars. That few dollars on parking just might save you a lot more.

driving downtown Asheville

I hate driving downtown Asheville. They put cement islands in the road at various areas around Asheville. There is one near the Buncombe County courthouse and one at the UNCA entrance. These are the ones that I know about off hand. These islands are confusing. People dont always yield when they are suppose to. Its a wonder there aren’t more wrecks downtown than there are all ready. Anyway, I once read where the roads of Asheville weren’t laid out in any real order, that the roads followed old deer trails.

suv, van and pickup truck parking

Posted in gripe corner at 3:52 pm by admin

It never fails when I go out, I park my car and go into the store and when I come out my car is surrounded by suv s, pickup trucks or vans. It hard to see when you have to back up. You have to inch your way back and pray you dont get hit. They should designate parking for these vehicles.
