camping in Cherokee

I just got back from Cherokee NC which is about an hour and a half away from Asheville. I stayed at the KOA campground in an RV. The KOA campground in Cherokee is very nice indeed. You could actually say it is a resort. There is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, a game room, a small restaurant where you can get a hamburger, a store, shuttle buses to area attractions and planned activities.  You can camp in a tent or an rv or rent a cabin. The staff is very pleasant and informative. The campground is located on Big Cove Road. this is a family oriented campground. You can go trout fishing a few feet away from your campsite. We watch several people catch their limit of trout in just a few hours. This is an ideal place to take the family  vacation or a weekend getaway. The best part of taking a vacation a short distance from home is you don’t get too tired out driving, you can go home quickly if you have to, you don’t use much gas (I used a quarter of a tank of gas in my Subaru round trip)  so you spend less money in the long run.
