simply put, there is no asheville zoo. However, there is a WNC nature center that could pass as one. It is located at 75 Gashes Creek Road in East Asheville, NC. The facility is limited to animals, reptiles and plants that live in the Appalachain region. Most children in the Asheville area have visited the nature center via a school field trip. The center is open all year round except for some holidays. There is a small admission fee. They offer summer camp, classes, crafts, birthday parties and other programs for kids.
