The Inspirations Labor Day Festival will be held in Bryson City at Inspirations Park on September 1st thru the 2nd. Bryson City is near Cherokee which isn’t far from Asheville. It is also known as Singing in the Smokies. For nearly 30 years, this gospel music event has been one of the largest of its kind.
The 4th annual western North Carolina Barbeque festival will be held in Maggie Valley at the Maggie Valley festival grounds on September 28 thru the 29th. Maggie Valley is about a 30 minute drive from Asheville. The highlight of the festival will be a BBQ sauce contest. There will be arts & crafts, food, live entertainment and children’s rides.
The 40th annual Bascom Lamar Lunsford festival will be held in Mars Hill College on September 8 at Moore Auditorium. Mars Hill is close to Asheville.There will be a concert of traditional folk music, ballads and stories that celebrate the Appalachian culture.
The Honda Gold Wing Rally or the wings over the Smokies rally will be held on September 20 thru the 22nd at the WNC Ag Center in Fletcher near the Asheville Airport. This event will have over 100 vendors. In the past, this event has drawn over 5,000 people.
The NC Apple Festival will be held August 31 - September 3rd in Hendersonville which is near Asheville. This is a street fair with lots of entertainment. The highlight of the festival is the King Apple Parade. There will be kids activities, exhibits, apple products, food, arts and crafts. If you are traveling thru Hendersonville at this time, be aware that some streets may be blocked off which could be a pain cause the streets here are mostly one way.
