Wrestling in WNC
The first thing I noticed when I moved here was that the people who lived here loved their wrestling. In the 70’s, NWA now WWE came to the Asheville Civic Center every Sunday. Now, WWE comes only twice a year. My landlord at the time, was 80 years old and never missed a Wrestling event or its TV show. She’d get very excited. Stand up in her seat. Hoop and holler. Move her arms about as if she was wrestling. Her favorites were Rick Flair and Wahoo McDaniel. I thought she was more entertaining than the actual wrestling.
