The Asheville Mall is located on Tunnel Rd. in East Asheville. Its the largest shopping center in WNC. Over 130 stores are located within the mall. There a food court and a kids play area too. The mall has many specialty shops that sell designer clothing. You’ll also find department stores like Sears and Belks. During the holiday season, from Thanksgiving to Christmas, traffic is terrible here.

Today was the last day of this year’s Belle Cher festival. It rained most of the weekend. So, if you went to the festival, you got wet. My grandkids went today. They were looking forward to it all week. If they have anything interesting to tell me about the festival this year, I will post it tomorrow.

The Jarrett House Restaurant is located in Dillsboro. The town is near Bryson City which is in Western North Carolina. We went to the Jarrett house a while back. The restaurant is known for its country cooking. The food was good. We had to wait a while for seating. It was crowded which is also a good indication that the food is good.

Vance Birthplace

Posted in attractions, day trips at 7:49 pm by admin

Governor Vance was the governor of NC during the civil war. I visited Vance Birthplace several years ago. It was part of a project for a humanities course I was taking at UNCA. Anyway, I was quite impressed. I saw the movie on Governor Vance then I took the guided tour. We went through the log house, then the smokehouse and then the slave quarters. The tour guide knew the material and made the tour interesting. Vance’s Birthplace is located in Weaverville and is a short drive from Asheville.
