black bears
We use to go up to Craggy Gardens off the Blue ridge parkway at night. Its a short drive north of Asheville. We’d watch the black bears try to get into the bear proof trash dumpsters here. We wouldn’t dare get out of the car cause you dont want to get close to these animals in the wild or anywhere else for that matter. A few years back, there was a bear foraging for food from the Waffle house dumpster off of I-26. This animal has most likely come from the Biltmore Estate where there is plenty of forested land to roam. Biltmore Estate is not far from this location of Asheville. I also had a friend at work tell me that one morning there was a bear in his trash can at home. He didn’t dare go outside till the bear was gone either.
