Asian Restaurants

Posted in restaurants at 4:15 pm by admin

We went to the Asiana restaurant located on Hendersonville Rd in South Asheville today. I’ve been here before so its nothing new. I’m not sure if this is a chain restaurant or not. They had a sign saying they were voted the best Chinese restaurant in WNC. They are always busy around lunch and supper. The restaurant has a large dining area. Its buffet. I’ve never seen a menu here. Prices are reasonable. Two can eat at the buffet for about $17.00 with drinks. There is take out too. Take out prices are by the pound. The food was good. They have a wide variety. You can easily overeat cause there is so much food that looks so so good. A little bit of this and a little bit of that won’t all fit on your plate. Its not just Chinese food. There’s Thai, Japanese, etc. There is a rather large suishi bar too. I don’t eat suishi so I couldn’t tell you if its good or not. The restaurant is always clean and well kept. The decor is nice too.

dogwood winter

Posted in weather at 4:06 pm by admin

The dogwood trees are beginning to bloom. Its was rainy today and it turned cold. It happened that quick. Yesterday, I posted how warm it was here. Like it does every year at this time since I can remember. You will need a jacket possibly your winter coat if you plan on being out for any length of time. So, if you are planning to visit the Asheville area during this time of year, be sure to bring your winter coat and a light jacket or sweater. Be prepared for any kind of weather.

spring is here

Posted in weather at 6:11 pm by admin

Beautiful weather here in the NC mountains. The dogwood trees are beginning to bloom which means its going to get colder real soon. Old timers call this dogwood winter. Anyways, the yellow bells have bloomed. The weeping cherry trees have already bloomed out and beginning to turn green. The bumblebees are very busy. All the trees are turning green. The grass is growing and needs mowing. Its warm outside. So warm by afternoon you will need the air conditioner for the rest of the day and night. In the early mornings, you will need a jacket if you plan on walking or being out for any length of time.

Mt. Mitchell NC

Mt. Mitchell is over 6000 ft. Its the highest mountain east of the Mississippi River. There is a nice breeze up here in the summer. You might even need a jacket just in case it gets cool. There is a campground, a restaurant, picnic tables with grills, a large parking lot, an observation tower, a concession stand, hiking trails and beautiful views. Even though its only 33 miles from Asheville, it takes about an hour via the Blue Ridge Parkway cause the speed limit is only 45 mph.

There are a lot of hiking trails here ranging from easy to strenuous. I took an easy trail and found it didnot get me out of breath. It was fairly even ground for being on a mountain top. If you go hiking in the mountains, be sure to stay on the trail. The picture below was taken from this trail on Mt. Mitchell.
