Vincent van Gogh Facts

Vincent Van Gogh was an Impressionist Painter. He was Manic Depressive or commonly referred to as Bi-polar. At one point in his life he cut off his ear, then painted a self portrait of himself with the bandage around his head. Vincent Van Gogh is a legend in himself. Don Mclean wrote a song Starry Starry Night which is a tribute to Vincent Van Gogh's life. One of the lines in the song is "how you suffered for your Sanity.
 

Van Gogh was born in Zundert, The Netherlands and died in Auvers-sur-Oise, France. His nationality was Dutch. He was apart of the Post-Impressionism art movement.

Vincent Van Gogh painted many famous paintings. Some of his most famous paintings and perhaps the most reproduced are: Starry Starry Night, Sunflowers and Self Portrait. His painting showed a lot of emotion with swirling paint textures and colors. The result of a manic mind. After years of suffering with mental illness,  Vincent Van Gogh committed suicide.
