102 years after its debut as the aristocratic Hotel Chastaigneray, Hotel Wales, on Madison Avenue and 92nd Street continues to offer a genteel refuge to discerning travelers. Hotel Wales is just a block from the former Carnegie-Vanderbilt and Sloan Mansions on Fifth Avenue. More than a half dozen major museums, including the Metropolitan, Guggenheim, Cooper Hewitt and Jewish Museum are in close proximity as are the galleries, haute couture designers and chic boutiques, restaurants and cafes on Madison Avenue. The 10-story hotel consists of 87 newly renovated guestrooms and suites.
